I was always curious about Zenni Optical’s clip on sunglasses so when they contacted me to do a review on their Keke Palmer Remix Collection of frames, I said “heck ya!” Let me try out their clip on sunglasses and see if they are worth getting.
First of all, Keke Palmer, who is an American actress, singer, television host, and author, has great taste in glasses. I particularly liked her picks on cat eye glasses!
Being strategic, I decided to choose a pair that had nose pads included so I didn’t have to get them done elsewhere. And I saw that these cute, metal Cat Eye Glasses with a pink highlight on top. They look really good in daylight, as pictured above.
When I was ready to purchase and added my prescription, there was an option to choose clip on sunglasses starting at $3.95 and up. Please note: this is the ONLY time you will be able to order clip ons for your glasses so order a few.
The clip ons are cut specifically for your frames so that they match. And there are many options for clip on sunglasses:
Gradient Tint
- Gray
- Amber
- Green
Mirror Tint
- Blue
- Silver
- Gold
Specialty
- 3DMovie
- NightDriving
Solid
- Amber
- Gray
I chose blue mirror tint and silver mirror tint clip on sunglasses (pictured above). When they arrived, I was surprised at how thin and lightweight the clip on sunglasses were.
How do clip on sunglasses work?
On one side there are plastic rubber clips that grab onto your glasses. You gently slide them on from the top of your glasses.
Pros and Cons
Although they hold really well, the clip ons don’t cover every edge of the frames and the rubber feet that comes in contact with your glasses can leave a smear when you remove them. They are also polarized lenses so it makes it harder to look at your phone or other LCD screens.
I do like the look of my clip on sunglasses but I think it’s awkward to clip on, so if I’m driving, I wouldn’t be able to slip them on with one hand. I would need both my hands to clip the sunglass part to my frames and it takes a few seconds.
So they wouldn’t be something where you can easily slip on and off, as you have to be careful doing it and it’s easier to do so with a table.
How I would use this is adding the clip on sunglasses at home and then going out and leaving them on. Or if I’m traveling and don’t have space for my prescription sunglasses, I might use this, as the clip ons take up little space.
It also costs less to add these clip on sunglasses for $3.95 – $5.95 vs. a pair of prescription sunglasses. But I still find myself using my prescription sunglasses for the look and convenience. I leave them in my car for driving.
That said, if you’re on a tight budget, these clip on sunglasses are a great option to add sun protection and try different tints and colors and figure out what you like. So try them out!

If you loosen the clips up so they aren’t tight on your glasses you can slip them on and off one handed while driving down the road. I adjust all my clip ons once I receive them (just pull them out a bit). The yellow night driving clips are the best to me, as I do a lot of driving in the dark morning hours.
The cat eye glasses look great on you!
Hi Alex,
Thank you for the tip about loosening the clips! I’ll try that.
